about

Mo is a Massage therapist, Yoga instructor and artist who recently expanded their practice to a second location. They reached out to me to help create a website for this new season of their business as they navigate offering services in these two locations and to reach the client base they most wished to serve — women and non-binary folks primarily. They expressed a desire to offer their services to this specific demographic and needed some support in crafting a website geared towards their ideal audience as well as having the website represent both locations they are operating out of in one unified vision.

Logo design and on site photography were also utilized in this project to create a cohesive brand identity.

challenges

The website that they already had was  filled with information that had accumulated over the years that it was in use. Our main challenge was in distilling the most essential nuggets from the original website and alchemizing that into a message that resonated with the target demographic. My main goal and approach to this project was to take in all the different aspects of Mo’s business and come up with a design that is simple, easy to navigate, has clear messaging and would be able to function as a tool for them to use to reach their target audience as well as simplify and streamline their booking process.

design solutions

I utilized a continuous scrolling homepage to act as an anchor for all Mo’s content. The Home page is an essential go-to hub for everything a site visitor may need to know, from services to about, to links to book an appointment in both locations. I wanted to simplify the user experience as much as possible creating as few diversions from the home page as possible. The one exception is the about page that has a bit more information specifically about Mo and their art practice. A visitor will be able to encounter Mo’s business for the first time, learn about the two locations and the services offered and book an appointment without leaving the home page.

The design of the home page offers opportunities for visual breaks and negative space which conveys a sense of calm essential to the core values of the brand. It allows for an experience that leaves the visitor informed, and with a clear call to action at the end, prompting them to book an appointment or to reach out for more information.

Acuity scheduling software is also utilized as an integration with Squarespace to offer seamless booking through a pop up dialog box.  We decided to place a scheduling button unique to each location underneath the explanation of each location as well as have both options in the main booking section. This choice was to eliminate confusion as to which location and which services at each location are available. Using this format allows the visitor to book services already knowing their desired location.

final product

A muted color palette  with accents of green is utilized to tell a story of healing through nature and creativity. The layouts and overall design offers clarity and ease in navigating a growing business offering multiple different kinds of healing and creative services in two different locations. The final website is a visual meditation allowing the visitor to plan for and schedule appointments to tend to their emotional and physical well being.
